Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3)

Gulshan Polyols Ltd is one of the largest manufacturers of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC), Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC), Activated Calcium carbonates (ACC) and Wet Ground Calcium Carbonates (WGCC) in India, with a production capacity of more than 1 lakh MTPA.
GPL set up the first of its kind “On-site PCC (Precipitated calcium carbonate)” manufacturing plant in the country in May 2009 with a capacity of 10,000 MTPA. PCC is produced in a satellite facility; onsite or close to the paper mill and the resultant slurry is pumped directly to the mill. This unique environment friendly technology not only reduces the energy consumption and drying time but also utilizes the CO2 emitted from the boilers. This has been recorded in the Limca Book of Records, 2010,

Gulshan Polyols Ltd produces over 19 grades of Calcium Carbonate used in various industries. It has imported Gulshan Polyols Ltd produces over 19 grades of Calcium classifiers from IVA Industrieberatung GmBH, Germany for its production of GCC. All the facilities have full fledged laboratories to ensure complete quality control at all stages. In order to make it-self eco-friendly, all facilities have clarifiers to recover maximum solids and waste water discharge. GPL’s calcium carbonate production is spread across four locations:

Muzzafarnagar, U.P.: The facility is set up in total area of 1,00,000 sq mt. and produces PCC, GCC & ACC, at a total capacity of 70,000 MTPA. It has a 7MW captive power plant to suffice its power needs. The facility is ISO 9001:2008 certified. The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art micro-biology laboratory with extensive R & D facilities.

Bharuch, Gujarat: The facility is set up in 10,000 sq mt and produces ACC, at a total capacity of 15,000 MTPA.

Dhaula Kuan, H.P.: The facility is set up in 30,000 sq mt and produces GCC and WGCC, at a total capacity of 20,000 MTPA.All plants have international quality equipments and technology and provide employment to over 700 people.

Abu Road, Rajasthan: The unit is set up in 10,000 sq mt. It will commence production from April 2012, with designed capacity of 50,000 tons P.A. to make fine Ground Coated Calcium Carbonate as well as uncoated grades. This unit enjoys proximity to world-class quality in many stone varieties. Company also intends to import marble to ensure supply of superior product quality.

GPL packages Calcium Carbonate in different denominations such as 25 Kg / 50 Kg / 1000 Kg in HDPE /Paper bags as per customer requirement. WGCC is packed in both liquid bulk tankers(SS) and barrels.

These forms of calcium carbonate are being used in various industries as filler or extender thus assuming crucial importance in chemical and allied industries. PVC, Rubber, Oral care, paper, paints, pharmaceuticals are some of the calcium carbonate using industries. Some of the major clients serviced by the company are Colgate-Palmolive, Hindustan Unilever, AmarRemedies, etc. It also exports Calcium Carbonate to neighboring countries like Nigeria, U.A.E., Nepal, Bangladesh, Muscat, etc

Calcium Carbonate for Paper Application:

GPL provides PCC to paper industry in powder form from its merchant plant and in slurry form through satellite plant. After long term association with paper industry & strong R&D, GPL has become the first Indian company to developed suitable grades of PCC that can be used in producing alkaline size white paper like writing-printing, cigarette and photocopier paper. Dr. Vasant Chapnekar an eminent technologist, responsible for introduction of PCC in alkaline paper in U.S.A. is presently associated with Gulshan Polyols Limited. With joint efforts, the company has installed its technology in manufacturing PCC and supplying it tothe customers.

The advantages of PCC application in Paper making in replacement to talc are quality enhancement with regards to higher brightness, higher bulk and higher opacity.By using PCC the end user can reduce the consumption of OBA, Titanium brightness of the product is very high (min. 95% ISO).

GPL is already supplying this product to the various Paper Mills like ITC Ltd, TNPL, BILT, Shree Krishna Paper Mills Ltd etc.
