Gulshan Polyols, is one of the largest manufacturers of Sorbitol with a capacity of 45000 MTPA, which is also the largest single location plant in India. It is an ISO 9001:2008 Company with its product Sorbitol, HACCP,OU-Kosher and HALAL certified. It also meets IP, BP and USP grade specifications. GPL is in the process of attaining GMP certification in the near future.

The Sorbitol facility is located at the Jhagadia Industrial Estate in Gujarat. It is set up in a total area of 150,000 sq mt providing employment to more than 500 people. It has a complete integrated set of operations from Corn > Starch > Dextrose > Sorbitol. The plant has international quality equipment and technology, capable to produce crystalline and non-crystalline grades of Sorbitol. It also has a 3 MW Captive Power Plant to fulfill its power needs. The company has invested substantially in Effluent Treatment Measures, making itself eco-friendly. The facility follows regulated quality control measures in its state-or-the-art micro-biology laboratory also equipped with a HPLC machine to bring out products at par with global standards. GPL lays great emphasis on R&D activities to meet its customer's ever-changing needs.

GPL packages Sorbitol in both liquid bulk tankers(SS) and barrels (300kgs, HM-HDPE drums, 80 drums/FCL). It can also be customized as per individual requirements including palletization on demand.

Some of the major clients serviced by the company in the Sorbitol segment are Colgate-Palmolive, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Dabur etc. GPL is also the largest exporter of Sorbitol from the country with a presence in 20 countries covering three continents of Asia, Africa & Australia.

ABOUT SORBITOL

Sorbitol, is a water soluble polyhydric alcohol, having sweet taste and high stability besides properties of humectancy and plasticizing. It finds a wide range of application such as oral care, cosmetics, pharma, food products and paints. It is used to manufacture Toothpaste, Tonics/liquid Pharmaceutical Formulations, Cosmetic products like Face Creams and Lotions, etc. In pharmaceutical sector it finds application in Vitamin Syrups, Cough Syrups, tablet compounding and many others.

PRODUCTION PROCESS OF SORBITOL

Sorbitol is produced by Hydrogenation of Dextrose at medium pressure with State of Art reaction controls. The Dextrose is produced in house from Starch by enzymatic process in order to achieve highest standard of product. The clear dextrose solution is reacted with hydrogen gas in the presence of catalyst in the reactors at specified pressure and temperature which is subsequently subjected to carbon treatment, ION Exchange etc. The solution thereafter is subjected to chemical adjustments, testing for chemical properties. The required concentration or Sorbitol (70%) is achieved in Evaporators before final testing etc
